The Fear of Trading: The left brain

Our concious brain is what creates our physical experience of life. As a survival mechanism the concious mind always looks at the darker side of life. It looks for potential problems, so it could formulate potential solutions. It wants to one step ahead of time. Since, with every trade comes the possibility of losing the lefty always looks at the half empty glass, the negative side, the problem side.

Morning pages helps with taming down the left brain, our survival mechanism. with a strategy that could easily give you 60% losers one really needs to tame Mr. left brain down a bit. To be able to look at the bright side of the picture morning pages helps a great deal. I dont know how and what happens during morning pages but doing them absolutely eases my mind. It helps with concentration and staying in the "Now". In the words of the Great BW, "it certainly helps me get to the other side".

Another thing that is useful is "Autogenic Training". For Further details I'd recommend reading the books and visiting www.profitunity.com.
Auto-suggestion and Self-hypnosis technique.

At the end of each tape in Profitunity Home Study Course Bill Williams reminds of completing The Morning pages. in fact I'd like to quote a very important bit about the importance of 3 pages/morning pages from the book, Trading Chaos 2nd Edition,p163
"This commitment is so essential that if you are not willing to make this a serious commitment, even more important that the last 30 minute of sleep in the morning, I strongly suggest that you quit right now. There is no compulsion fro you to do this program. You well may choose to go on living your life and trading that way you have always traded. It is your life and you should make this choice."
(in a way, he is suggesting that to trade chaos, to trade differently then you traded before and to be able to follow his technique, you must take this on board. He gives us no choices its a yes or no)
You can see how strong this statement is.

He also says that in almost all the cases where people would fail to become successful even after attending tutorial and/or completing home study course the reason they find is that they dont do the morning pages. It is this important. I hope I understand what is written above first and foremost and the rest of us Profitunity Traders.

Starting a few affirmative statements every morning is a best practice.

All the best,
We create our own reality.
cheers

  1. Great post! I too have used morning pages and AT pratice. One comment, Bill has said that this is where you get rid of all the negative thinking and beliefs(the morning pages). I found that I had to be careful because I would go down the rabbit hole of negative thinking. I started to also write a list of positive affirmations that I took out of TC 2nd ed and also wrote some of my own. I write these at the end of every morning pages session. This helped to get me back to positive before starting the day. Thoughts?
    Take care,

  3. couldn't agree more on using positive statements / affirmation during writing the pages. I'd recommend starting with affirmations and ending on different set of affirmations. in between let your imagination go wild. Usually the negative side would take lead but no always. and does not really matter what you write. The important thing is to let out the "stream of conciousness". Just write whatever comes to mind. That is the best way to write MP. but AT is the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me. Trust me it changed the way I experience life. I constantly recall my mental signs during trading. My right arm is heavy, my right hand is warm, my fav is my pulse is strong and regular, my breathing is calm and regular, the most important one is my solar plexus is glowing warm (this ones calls the wisdom) and then my forehead is cool. The last two are very very powerful in terms of trading. It takes you to places where you could never go before.
As a result, I'm so calm that my older friends find it strange. They tell me that they miss the previous me but that its great to around a calm me. (I used to be too hyper, Robert may still not agree or may be he would LOL)

  4. For those who prefer typing to hand writing, here is a great way of doing it. I often end up using my iphone when I miss the am session (which I should not but... something is better than nothing).

a great and easy way. it sends you an email, it serves as a reminder as well as you can store your thoughts forever.
    give it a try.

Robert shared this with me so thanks Bob!

  6. Thats Fantastic Mobo! I'm so happy for ya. When it makes sense, all you have to do is to be happy now. In order to trade well, we must stay happy at all times. Let stress never come near us. Whether you lose a trade or not never let yourself be stressed or unhappy. Just be grateful and say "NEXT". It is an amazing word. It destroys all the "woulda, shoulda, coulda" as well as the feeling of "frustration, disappointment, sadness". If you let the last three take control the next thing t hat happens is that you get ready for some anger and blame. if you let that happen to you, it takes you to "revenge" and hatred. If you let that happen to you, you might start feeling jealous of others and feel unworthy, consequently if you let this happen to you as well you end up at the lowest possible emotional state that a human can ever have. FEAR. (depression). If you fear you gotta work your up the scale of happiness. I might write something on this soon. cheers.
